"Drawing with Scissors"- Henri Mattise Style
Today we worked on our "Drawing with Scissors" projects based on Henri Mattise style Art!
Henri Mattise was a French artist known for painting, printmaking, sculpture, drawing and collage. In his later years he became sick causing him to become bed bound. Paintings and sculpture art became physically difficult so he turned to cut out art. With some assistance he put together murals of cut outs!
Cut out art is such great way to work the creativity in a child AND adult!
For my younger kids I pre-cut fun colorful shapes for them to create what they wanted on their paper! You can have older kids cut out their own shapes and then design away!
It was fun to see how meticulous some of the children were with their placement and how some just piled them on! Each piece was original and fun.
These will be displayed in our room for all to enjoy!
