Card Board Sculpture

We had so much fun creating this Card Board Sculpture. We spent 3 days on this project in my classroom. We painted the first 2 days allowing time to for the sides to dry and we constructed the last day!

I precut pieces of cardboard (We used old pizza boxes!) and the kids painted  them together!

After all of the pieces were painted and dried we cut slits in the pieces so we could piece them together (pictures below) and then built our sculpture! We worked together to determine where each piece should go and discussed why certain pieces worked better in certain spots.

It was fun to see how some of the children worked so well together and persisted until the end to make sure every piece was precisely placed where they felt they should be!

You can also adjust this for older kids by making the pieces smaller and constucting many things from abstract creations to robots!

With cardboard the limits are endless!!

Happy Card-boarding!
